Carribean
The unfortunate thing about coaching rowing in the spring, summer and fall is that
post fall rowing is also storm season in the Carribean. It is not really the time
to go diving in Belize. However, after days of high winds and rain, we did manage
to do some fabulous reef snorkelling. The region is still on our list of places
to explore in the future.
Flip Flops
All season my rowing partner and I wore matching flip flops. We decided
that we would retire our flip flops at our final regatta of the season, and
turn it into a tradition. This year we ended at the Head of the Schuylkill in
Philadelphia. Following our regatta we ran up the steps of the Philadelphia
Art Museum (just like Rocky) and left our flip flops at the museum
doors.
Travelling to and from Princeton for FISA World Masters Games.
Making an already long trip even longer...
Enroute to Princeton we missed our turn for the Penn turnpike and drove an
extra 130km to get to Princeton. Then, we got a flat tire later Saturday,
driving from the venue back to our hotel. We left the regatta around 1:30pm
on Sunday afternoon and then received a $156 US speeding ticket on the turnpike,
and then another flat tire!
We ended up spending the night in Binghamton and paid $115 US for a new tire
before hitting the road again. Everyone laughed about the situation and had
a great time, and it turned out to be a memorable trip.
